1. After these things I heard, as it were, a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying -
the great multitude in heaven is to be identified with the faithful. Only they could be in heaven after God’s judgment is completed. The voices sing loud because it is a great praise.
Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God; -
this is the praise that they sing. God is all powerful and glorious. Why? Because His judgments are final.
2. Because His judgments are true and righteous -
not only are His judgments final they are also righteous and true. They are also fair. Psalm19:9.
He has judged the great harlot who was corrupting the earth with her immorality -
God brought judgment on the great harlot, Satan, because of the wickedness that he committed and the people he led to commit sin.
and He has avenged the blood of His bond-servants on her. -
God has answered the cry of the saints that are under the altar. They wanted sin to be punished and God punished it. This is the answer they wanted. Deut. 32:43.
3. And a second time they said, “Hallelujah!” Her smoke rises up forever and ever -
They sing more praise. The saints are truly rejoicing. The great persecutor is destroyed. Is. 34:10.
4. And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down…saying Amen, Hallelujah.-
all of God’s messengers praise Him. God is worthy. By this happening we can see God’s stamp of approval. Amen-so be it-to God’s judgments. God accepts the praise.
5. And a voice came from the throne, saying -
this is from God but not God. But the voice has a message from God.
“Give praise to our God…and the great.” -
the voice tells all the faithful to give praise to God. God is worthy of all the praise He receives.
6. And I heard as it were, the voice of a great mulitude…saying -
the response to the command is a great and grand and glorious one. Why? because the faithful respond and not the wicked.
“Hallelujah! for the Lord our God, the almighty reigns.” -
they sing because it is their God who reigns and not Satan.
